Google Android all set to take over the world

“It came, it saw and it conquered” seems to be the most appropriate phrase to describe Google’s baby ‘Android’. Google Android in the last 12 months has gained an edge over many other cell phone platforms available around. It has even been claimed that Android garners around one million new users every six days! Now that certainly is a huge amount. That said, it seems Google Android is soon going to take the world by a storm, quite literally.

Android is not a single piece of hardware, it’s a software platform that can be suited to work on any type of hardware configuration. Google develops the software and allows others to develop the hardware, customize the user experience and add to the ecosystem; much like Microsoft. This advantage of customization is one reason why Android is going to be the next big thing.

The number of Android handsets in the market has been growing since the launch of Motorola CLIQ in September 2009. More than being a Google smartphone, it was a physical proof that Android is going to stay. Motorola alone has brought seven Android handsets to market. HTC too has come up with nine Android handsets. Other biggies like Samsung and LG are working hard on Android phones too. With everybody jumping into the bandwagon, it quite shows how largely the people have been demanding it. Nobody wants to be left out in earning the profits out of the same well right? The launch of Motorola Droid and other Android based smart phones by Motorola has helped tremendously in stabilizing Motorola’s finances. With Motorola and HTC who have made a huge commitment to Android, it seems Android shall have a strong foothold in future.

Behind everything is a reason they say, and why Android seems to be becoming the darling of every mobile manufacturing company is a question that also comes with a reason. Firstly, Android devices are available from every major U.S. wireless provider. Secondly, Android being an Open Platform allows much more flexibility to the developers. Also, the number of applications for Android is clearly on the rise. Last but not the least, Android is available on a variety of devices and as they say “Variety is the spice of life”, this fact only adds to the advantage of the Google OS. Moreover, introduction of Froyo i.e. updated Android OS 2.2, has added a unique charm which is going to make sure Android’s perpetual existence in the market.

While most of us have only known Android to be a boon in the mobile arena, smartphones to be precise, it has also been creeping into other industries as well. Google has been planning to get into other areas apart from the most prominent mobile industry. Android netbooks, photo frames, PMP’s, Android powered DVRs are already heard to be in works. We never know when these might hit the market. But whenever they do, people are sure going to be left smitten. Android sure is going to rule the Tech World.
